Revitalise Sanctuary Point
In early 2019, Sanctuary Point Community Pride Inc and the Basin Business Forum submitted a grant application to the ‘My Community Project’ scheme after recognising the need for a revitalisation of our town centre. Fortunately we were successful with the most amount of votes and were granted $188,000 from the NSW State Government to develop and carry out a revitalisation plan.
Since October 2019 we’ve engaged a team of experts and volunteers who have been hard at work creating a plan to revitalise our town centre. The Draft Masterplan was open to all community members for their comment during the feedback period.
We faced lengthy delays within the project due to the bushfires and pandemic. Whilst we worked closely with Council to try to make the most impact with the Masterplan, ultimately we had to work within our budget and focus our efforts on the area that would have the greatest impact for our town.
Work is now underway to revitalise the face of the Sanctuary Point shopping village on Paradise Beach Road and is expected to be completed by the end of December 2021. The improvements include; repair and refresh of the carpark surface, creation of two alfresco areas, fixing the gardens, realigning car park spaces to add more parking, installation of two disabled access car parks, as well as cleaning, and new signage.
We would like to thank Sanctuary Point Community Pride for their involvement in the administration of this grant, and NSW Government for the funding opportunity.
